DEMING — The City of Deming City Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday, April 21, at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, where councilors will consider routine business items, hear a presentation on the local film industry, and review a recommendation to award a contract for external auditor services.
According to the official agenda, the meeting will begin with approval of minutes from recent council and planning meetings, followed by several proclamations recognizing community observances, including National Economic Development Week, Professional Municipal Clerks Week, Chinese American Railroad Workers Day, and Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.
Council members will also receive a presentation from Heather Lutz regarding the movie and film industry in Deming, a topic that has drawn increasing interest as communities across southern New Mexico explore opportunities tied to film production and related economic development.
Additional proclamations are scheduled to recognize the National Day of Prayer and Frontline Worker Appreciation Month. City officials are also expected to review a recommendation for the award of Request for Proposal 26-05 for external auditor services, a routine but important step in maintaining the city’s financial oversight and compliance requirements.
The agenda includes a manager’s report and a closed session to discuss limited personnel matters involving appointed employee evaluations and contract negotiations. Any decisions resulting from that discussion would be considered once the council returns to open session.
The meeting will be held at Deming City Hall, 1275 East Pine Street, and will also be accessible online and by phone for members of the public who wish to participate remotely. The next regular City Council meeting is scheduled for May 19 at 5:30 p.m.
