DEMING – Reports from the Deming Police Department and the Luna County Detention Center show a series of recent arrests involving a range of alleged offenses, from violent incidents and driving violations to outstanding warrants and drug-related allegations. Authorities indicate the cases reflect routine enforcement efforts across the community as officers continue to respond to calls for service and follow up on court-issued warrants.
Carlos Lugo, 23, of Deming, was recently taken into custody on allegations tied to a magistrate court warrant involving kidnapping, three counts of aggravated battery against a household member, bribery of a witness, and battery against a household member. Officials report he was booked into the detention center without bond pending further court proceedings.
Tiffany Harris, 34, of Deming, was also arrested on allegations of battery upon a peace officer, concealing identity, and criminal trespass. Law enforcement officials say officers responded to the situation and placed her into custody as part of routine enforcement actions.
Jose Alberto Ornelas, 36, of Deming, was arrested on a magistrate court warrant issued out of Grant County for failure to comply with conditions of release. Authorities report the warrant required his detention without bond until further court action.
Jeremy Jaramillo, 28, of Deming, was taken into custody on allegations of aggravated assault involving a deadly weapon, criminal trespassing, and failure to comply with conditions of release connected to a court warrant. Officials say the matter remains under review by prosecutors.
Ryan Johnson, 44, of Deming, was arrested on allegations of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended or revoked, and failure to appear in municipal court as ordered.
In additional recent enforcement activity, Miguel Rios, 26, of Deming, was arrested on allegations of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and improper use of evidence of registration. Sara Kristine Perales, 38, of Deming, was taken into custody on a municipal court warrant for failure to appear. Jose Granados, 44, of Deming, was arrested on allegations that include aggravated fleeing from a law enforcement officer, resisting or evading an officer, aggravated driving while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia, false reporting, and failure to comply with conditions of release.
Authorities also report Alexis Gutierrez, 19, of Deming, was arrested on allegations of driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, possession of alcoholic beverages by a minor, leaving the scene of an accident, and discharging a firearm. Donnie Lee Johnson, 62, of Deming, was arrested on allegations of aggravated battery involving a deadly weapon. Jose Ornelas, 36, of Deming, was taken into custody on allegations of battery upon a peace officer and assault upon a peace officer. Gabriel Carreon, 53, of Deming, was arrested on allegations of aggravated fleeing from law enforcement, driving while intoxicated, resisting or obstructing an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, open container, and a traffic violation.
In a separate incident, Jorge Munoz, 45, of Deming, was cited for alleged shoplifting at a local retail store. Officers also responded to a vehicle fire reported on the 200 block of South Columbus Street involving a 2008 Dodge Caravan. The incident remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
