DEMING – Organizers of the Great American Duck Race have announced the official theme for the 2026 celebration as the community prepares for the 47th year of one of Deming’s most recognized traditions.
This year’s theme is “Outdoor Duck – Racing to the Great Outdoors!” The concept highlights the adventurous spirit and natural beauty of the region, celebrating activities such as camping, hiking, fishing, and spending time outdoors with family and friends.
According to organizers, the theme reflects the landscapes and lifestyle that make the Deming area unique and will help shape the look and feel of the annual festival leading up to race weekend.
Jorge Sanchez has been named the winner of this year’s theme contest. Organizers thanked all participants who submitted ideas to help guide the direction of the 47th annual event.
The official 2026 logo, inspired by the “Outdoor Duck” theme, will be unveiled soon and will be featured throughout the community and incorporated into the weekend’s festivities. The theme and logo will also be reflected in events such as the Duck Royalty Pageant and the Tournament of Ducks Parade, along with decorations and promotional materials leading up to race weekend.
The 47th Annual Great American Duck Race will take place Thursday, August 20 through Sunday, August 23, 2026. For more than four decades, the Duck Race has been a trademark event in Deming, drawing visitors from across New Mexico and neighboring states for a weekend filled with entertainment, food, family activities, and the fast-paced duck races that have made the event a regional favorite.
