DEMING — The Deming Police Department reports multiple arrests and ongoing investigations, with assistance from the Luna County Detention Center in the processing and detention of suspects.
Among those arrested were Pedro Ibarra, 44, of Deming, who was taken into custody on a Sixth Judicial District Court warrant for failure to appear with no bond listed. Gemma Escobar, 44, of Deming, was cited and released on a charge of trespassing. Robert Ramirez, 47, of Deming, was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a license, while Hector Flores, 39, of Deming, was arrested on a charge of petty larceny. Gerardo Chavez, 26, of Deming, was arrested for resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer. Jeremiah Perez, 27, of Deming, was arrested on a Sixth Judicial District Court warrant for failure to appear, also with no bond listed. Daniel Chavez, 28, of Deming, was arrested on charges of aggravated DWI and reckless driving, and Brenda Sosa, 30, of Deming, was arrested on a charge of battery upon a household member. In a separate case involving an out-of-state warrant, Armando Alvarez-Diaz, 22, of Kentucky, was arrested on a Commonwealth of Kentucky, Hardin County District Court bench warrant for failure to appear at an arraignment, with bond set at five-thousand dollars cash.
In addition to the arrests, officers investigated several incidents. Police responded to a residential garage burglary in which speakers valued at approximately seven-hundred dollars were reported stolen. Officers also investigated a burglary at Flavors Dispensary, where suspects allegedly broke a front window, causing about five-hundred dollars in damage, and stole miscellaneous items of unknown value. Another burglary involved a black 2024 Jeep Wrangler, with more than ten-thousand five-hundred dollars in electronic items reported stolen; that case remains under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division. Police also investigated the theft of a yellow Ford Econoline van. A be-on-the-lookout alert was issued, and with assistance from the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was later located in their jurisdiction.
