DAGSHIP Welcomes New Director as Adoptions and Support Boost Shelter Efforts

DEMING — The Deming Animal Guardians for Service, Hope, and Improvement Project, known as DAGSHIP, has announced the arrival of its new director, Ron Beardman, as the organization begins another year focused on animal welfare and community outreach.

Beardman has started work alongside a dedicated team that includes Yere, a kennel technician, Hope, a longtime volunteer known for her technical skills, as well as board members and additional volunteers. Together, the group is continuing DAGSHIP’s mission to provide care, placement, and advocacy for animals in the community.

During Beardman’s first week, the shelter hosted an adoption event at Tractor Supply that resulted in 11 cats finding new homes. Officials say the successful turnout has helped bring the shelter’s animal population to a more manageable level, allowing DAGSHIP to resume accepting stray animals.

The organization also expressed appreciation for recent community support. Mike Reitz accepted $430 in donations and met with a supporter from Silver City known as “Don,” who regularly organizes raffles to raise funds for DAGSHIP’s operations.

Shelter leaders say the combination of strong adoptions, volunteer involvement, and continued community generosity is helping ensure DAGSHIP can maintain its lifesaving work throughout the year.
