DEMING – Downtown Deming will come alive with holiday spirit this Saturday, November 29, as the Deming Luna County MainStreet Program hosts a full day of Christmas celebrations, markets, shopping events, and family-friendly activities throughout the city center.
Festivities begin at noon with the Downtown Christmas Market on the 100 block of South Silver Avenue, where visitors can browse handmade crafts, baked goods, and locally owned small-business vendors. Shoppers are encouraged to participate in the community’s “Shop Small” initiative, which continues through 5 p.m. and highlights the importance of supporting Deming merchants during the holiday season. Along Silver Avenue, booths will offer giveaways, store discounts, music, and activities including opportunities to work on Elf-on-the-Shelf game cards.
At 5 p.m., the “Light Up Downtown” event will brighten the business district as storefronts and decorations illuminate for the evening. The annual Lighted Christmas Parade follows at 5:30 p.m., beginning at Cedar Street near the Deming Visitor Center, traveling west along Pine Street, turning south on Gold Avenue, and concluding at Poplar Street. Immediately after the parade, the community is invited to gather at Luna County Courthouse Park for the traditional Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, celebrating the start of the holiday season in Deming.
This full lineup of events is presented by the Deming Luna County MainStreet Program. For additional details, contact (575) 546-2674 or visit www.demingms.org.
