DAGSHIP Welcomes New Board Members, Announces Leadership Changes and Free Spay/Neuter Coupons

DEMING – DAGSHIP Humane Society has added two new members to its Board of Directors as the organization prepares for program changes heading into 2026. Beth Underwood and Bill Chambers have joined the board, bringing extensive hands-on experience in trap-neuter-release efforts involving community and feral cats. The organization said both have already made a measurable difference through their ongoing work in Luna County.

Chrystal, who has led several of DAGSHIP’s adoption events, reported another successful weekend at Tractor Supply with 10 additional animals placed in new homes. She will be leaving the organization to move out of state after three years of service. DAGSHIP leadership said more information will be shared soon regarding upcoming changes.

A press release was recently issued announcing that low-income pet owners may apply for 100 percent off spay/neuter coupons that include Rabies vaccinations. Funding from the New Mexico Veterinary Medicine Board will allow the organization to cover surgeries and vaccinations for roughly 365 dogs and cats at no cost.

Despite ongoing financial challenges, DAGSHIP noted improvements in revenue from Silver Whisker, its second-hand store, as well as proceeds from the sale of a donated scooter.
