DEMING – Deming Cesar Chavez Charter High School has announced the unexpected passing of its principal, Noel Nuñez, a loss school officials describe as sudden and deeply felt throughout the campus and community.
In a statement, the school shared that Nuñez was more than an administrator, calling him a friend, mentor and dedicated leader whose commitment to students and families was unmatched.
To allow staff time to grieve, regular classes will not be held tomorrow. However, the school building will be open to provide grief counseling and support services for students and families who wish to attend.
Counseling schedule for Thursday:
• Morning Support: 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
• Closed for lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Afternoon Support: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The school asks the community to keep the Nuñez family, along with the students and staff of Cesar Chavez Charter High School, in their thoughts during this difficult time. Further details regarding services will be shared when available.
