DEMING – A community outreach event aimed at strengthening relationships between residents and local law enforcement will take place later this month in Deming, offering an open and welcoming space for conversation, questions, and connection over a cup of coffee.
“Coffee with a Cop” is scheduled for Friday, January 31, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at The Light of the World Church, located at 214 West Hemlock Street. The event invites members of the public to meet with local law enforcement officers in an informal setting designed to encourage respectful dialogue and mutual understanding.
Organizers say the gathering is intended to create a relaxed environment where community members can share ideas, ask questions, and learn more about the work being done by local agencies. Free coffee and light refreshments will be available, and attendees are encouraged to come as they are and participate at their own pace.
Representatives from local law enforcement, including the Deming Police Department, New Mexico State Police, and the Luna County Sheriff’s Office, are expected to be present. The event is hosted by The Light of the World Church and is open to all members of the public.
Community leaders say initiatives like this help build trust and foster stronger relationships between officers and the people they serve, emphasizing the value of open communication and cooperation in maintaining a safe and supportive community.
