DEMING, NM — The New Mexico Department of Transportation has released its traffic report for the week of December seventh through the fourteenth, advising motorists to use caution in multiple construction zones across Luna County and surrounding areas.
In Deming, work continues on the U.S. 180 signalization project at Gold Street and Railroad, Pine, Cedar, and Ash streets. Lane and shoulder closures, sidewalk restrictions, and reduced speeds are in place as crews install new signals, ADA ramps, and roadway striping. Work is scheduled weekdays through the end of December.
Additional work on U.S. 180 includes core drilling near mile marker 143 north of Deming, with reduced speed limits and possible lane drops.
On state roadways, rehabilitation work continues on NM 26 between mile markers zero and ten, featuring flagging, pilot car operations, and reduced speed limits, with a holiday suspension planned from December twenty-third through January seventh. Meanwhile, construction of a box culvert continues on NM 11 near the Columbus Port of Entry, with reduced speeds in effect through spring of next year.
Motorists are reminded that double fines may apply in work zones and conditions may change without notice.
