Burglary Cases and Narcotics Arrests Highlight Latest Deming Crime Report

DEMING – The Deming Police Department has released its latest crime report, noting several recent arrests along with burglary and property damage cases in the city. All persons mentioned are innocent until found guilty by a court of law.

Officers arrested 38-year-old Victoria Gomez of Deming on a charge of possession of a controlled substance believed to be methamphetamine. In a separate case, 42-year-old Javier Camacho of Deming was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, larceny under $250, resisting or obstructing an officer, and was also booked on a no-bond State of New Mexico probation warrant. Additionally, 60-year-old Tracy Brunner of Deming was arrested on a Luna County Magistrate warrant for failure to pay, listed with a $180 cash bond.

Police also investigated two vehicle burglaries. One incident occurred at a residence on East Florida Street, involving a tan 2022 Toyota Corolla where a credit card and spare keys were reported missing. Another burglary took place at the Hampton Inn parking lot, where a white 2022 Ford F-350 was entered and a laptop computer along with a volt meter were taken. The estimated loss in that case was reported at approximately $3,000.

Other recent incidents included a citation issued to a 78-year-old Deming man for a prohibited connection to a gas line. Officers also responded to criminal damage to property in the 2800 block of East Cedar Street, where two light poles were damaged and wiring was cut. At the New Mexico Workforce Solutions office on East Oak Street, four hubcaps were taken from a 2020 Nissan Altima, valued at around $100. In another case, a 19-year-old man was cited for shoplifting at Walmart and was released at the scene.

Captain Jose Montoya with the Deming Police Department said officers remain focused on community awareness and prevention efforts. “We encourage residents to secure their property and report anything suspicious right away. Working together helps maintain a safer community,” Montoya said.
